Membership

Membership for the National Association of Clinical Obesity Services (NACOS) is open to individuals and weight management clinics who share our commitment to driving improvement in the quality of obesity care in Australia.

Membership offers you a range of benefits such as access to the latest industry information and research, networking opportunities, being involved in key conversations within the sector, and supporting the goals and objectives of the association.

NACOS offers a range of membership types to suit individuals and organisations. Please see below for eligibility, included benefits and fees for each membership type.

Membership types

NACOS offers a range of membership types to suit individuals and organisations. 

Full Membership - Weight Management Clinic (WMC)

Open to: All types of clinics or other clinical obesity services that provide a range of treatments and services, including but not limited to intensive behavioural interventions, support services, psychological treatments, pharmacotherapies and bariatric surgery.

WMC membership is open to all clinician representatives who;

  • Have authority to apply on behalf of the clinical obesity service
  • Wish to financially support the purpose and goals of NACOS

WMC members must comply with the rules set out in the NACOS constitution. NACOS membership is not a guarantee of professional standards. WMC members are not permitted to use NACOS membership to promote a standard of care at their practise.

Full Membership – Individual

Open to: Any Health Care Professional (HCP), researcher or policy maker with a special interest in clinical obesity services and care, who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Any HCP who works in a current weight management clinic
  • A GP who is a member of the RACGP obesity management special interest network
  • A HCP who is a member of a weight management special interest group
  • A HCP who has completed an accredited course on weight management e.g. SCOPE, Optifast VLCD Accredited Healthcare Professionals
  • A researcher or policy maker from any discipline with an interest in clinical obesity e.g. co-authored 1 paper per year in the last 2 years for academics; evidence of policy development work for a Local Health Network, Primary
  • A current member of ANZOS or ANZMOSS
Associate Membership – Individual
Open to: Any Health Care Professional (HCP), researcher or policy maker with a special interest in clinical obesity services and care, who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Any HCP who works in a current weight management clinic
